In the interest of giving credit where it is due, and to assist others who may want to know how things on this site work…
Using plugins and widgets in combination and in creative ways to make this site behave as desired has been a challenge. You may find that you have to experiment to get things to work as you want them to. For example, listing all posts for an author, with excerpts, worked great – until the number of posts caused timeouts. The adjustment was to limit the return for excerpts to the most recent 50. Another example of performance concerns was the List Posts by Categories. The first attempt put an entry for each book of the bible on a single page. Again, it was ok until the post count climbed. The adjustment was to create nested categories and avoid multiple entries on the page. Adding widget and super cache, along with db cache, made a big difference in performance. Just remember that your updates don’t show up until your cache(s) are refreshed.
If you want to use one of these, go to your wordpress administration page, plugins, add new, and search for the name of the plugin shown below.
