Hear God’s Word
Salvation : Hear - Believe - Repent of Sin - Confess Christ - Be Baptized - Live Faithfully
Hear God’s Word!
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17).
In order to learn what we must do to be saved we have to hear God by studying and listening to His Word.
No other book or person in the world has these answers. The Bible, the inspired Word of God, is the way that God has chosen to express His will for us. (1 Corinthians 1:18-21)
We understand hearing and listening are required for children to obey parents.
As children of God, the same pattern holds true as for a family. The children can only be acceptable when they hear and listen to the one(s) in authority. In our families, the parents are the authority. When we desire to be accepted as children of God, we must accept His authority and then understand and follow his Will, which He has preserved for us in the Bible.
Why would we expect God to accept us choosing to not hear?
Would your parents accept you not hearing and listing to them? As a parent, would you accept your children ignoring you when you provide instruction? Of course not! Therefore, it would be unreasonable to expect God to accept us when we are ignoring Him. We need to apply the same common sense we use in dealing with family situations to our relationship with God.
Hear Him. Listen to Him. Accept His instruction. Follow His Will.
God’s Word was written for our instruction and benefit. Hearing God’s Word by reading or listening is the only way we can learn how to be acceptable to Him. Hearing God’s Word is a required first step. It is impossible to follow unheard instruction.
“O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.” (Jeremiah 10:23).
